All parents and carers will need to apply for their child’s school place. 

If your child is attending a pre-school at your preferred school you will still need to follow this process.

Most children start reception full-time in September after their fourth birthday. For example, if your child turns 4 in June, they’ll usually start school in September that same year.

  • Is this school a good location for me to get my child to and from? Consider transport links
  • Is this a school accepting children? 
  • Is my child the correct recommended age for starting school?
  • Is this school suitable for my child-minder to collect and drop off?
  • Do I know enough about the school, shall I take a look around and find out more?
     

You can apply using Derbyshire County Council’s online service if you pay your Council Tax to one of the following District / Borough councils:

  • High Peak
  • Derbyshire Dales
  • Chesterfield
  • North East Derbyshire
  • Bolsover
  • Amber Valley
  • Erewash
  • South Derbyshire
