We understand that the Nestle formula recall has caused anxiety for parents and carers, so we are advising these steps to ensure you have the right information.

Key points for anyone using affected products:

1. Check batch numbers, stop using affected batches and call your GP or 111 if your baby is sick (symptoms of cereulide food poisoning are nausea, vomiting and cramps shortly after consumption).

2. If you are using non-prescribed, off the shelf formula, and need or want to change your baby’s formula milk, you can swap to a different brand of first stage infant formula - they are all nutritionally equivalent. NHS advice is to use first infant formula up to 12 months of age if you're not breastfeeding or are mixed feeding, so it's ok to swap from a follow-on formula to any brand of first infant formula.

3. If using any of the prescribed products (Alfamino, lactose free) consult your prescribing health professional on a suitable alternative.
