A new ChatHealth text messaging service is now available for parents and carers of children and young people aged 5-19 years old.

This is a confidential text messaging service where parents and carers of 5-19 year olds can get support and information from a public health nurse in a quick and easy way.

Parents and carers can text 07312 263744 to contact a Derbyshire public health nurse.

The service can provide support on:

  • Sleep
  • Bedwetting
  • Bullying
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Mental health
  • Healthy eating
  • Sex and contraception
  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Smoking
  • Self-harm
  • Signposting to local services
  • And much more

Alli Jacques, a specialist community public health nurse in Derbyshire said “we are excited about adding this new text service to the two ChatHealth services we already offer, as these have proved to be a valuable way for parents and young people to communicate with us. Texting allows people to speak to us in a way that doesn’t feel too intimidating or embarrassing for them and we completely understand that. With this new number, we want to support parents and carers in a way that works for them”.

Please be aware that the ChatHealth numbers are not emergency numbers. The service is available Monday to Friday, 9am – 4.30pm, except bank holidays. In the event of an emergency, phone 111 or 999. Messages are charged at the usual rate.

We also offer a ChatHealth text messaging service for parents and carers of 0-5 year olds and one for young people aged 11-19:

Parents and carers of 5-19 year olds: 07312 263744
